Dear Jake & Amelia,
We drove into Cortez to visit our favorite stores. The western wear store didn't carry those great woven belts anymore, but the small old time department store carried slim leg jeans that can be worn with boots and traditional straw cowboy hats.

After a wonderful Mexican meal, we visited the Cortez Cultural Center. There we watched  a demonstration by Tiokte dancers. A Lakota Sioux and his two young daughters danced several social dances that they also perform in competition at pow wows. Their regalia  was colorful and their dancing was full of energy.  We left thinking that we should attend a pow wow.
